THERAPY FROM THE COMFORT OF YOUR HOME

ONLINE STUTTERING THERAPY

Online stuttering and speech therapy (also referred to as teletherapy and telepractice) allows our clients to access expert services no matter where they are. Without the commute or COVID-related concerns, stuttering and speech therapy will easily fit into your schedule.

There have been many studies demonstrating that the efficacy and benefits of online therapy are the same as in-person therapy. Often, online stuttering therapy is preferable, allowing clients to focus on their speech from the comfort and safety of their home.

At Cadence Speech, not only are we stuttering therapy experts, but we are experienced and trained in providing online therapy. We welcome the opportunity to connect with you over video for a free consultation to allow you to ask questions and get a better feel for how our interactive and face-to-face therapy works.

Below you will find a list of frequently asked questions about teletherapy.

Teletherapy FAQs

WHAT IS TELETHERAPY OR TELEPRACTICE?

Teletherapy and telepractice refer to the method of using technology such as video to deliver therapy. Services are delivered remotely, with the speech therapist in his/her office and the client often at home or work. Many therapists and medical providers have utilized teletherapy as a means to deliver services to clients located outside their coverage area or as a more convenient way for clients to receive the care they need. At Cadence Speech, we use teletherapy to deliver stuttering therapy to clients throughout Colorado, California, North Carolina, Texas, and a growing list of other states.

HOW EXACTLY DOES TELETHERAPY WORK?

Every online therapy session involves direct, face-to-face interaction with the therapist over a secure, HIPAA compliant online video conferencing platform. To access therapy, all you need is a computer or tablet with a web-based browser that has a built in-microphone (or with headphones that have a microphone). Any materials or interactive activities will be shared electronically and, when necessary, be available for download.

IS TELETHERAPY AS EFFECTIVE AS IN-PERSON THERAPY?

Teletherapy is as effective as in-person therapy. We use the same evidence-based therapy approaches as used for in-person therapy, and each session is carefully planned and tailored to the client. Additionally, there is improved access to care and support for speech therapy services (e.g., if clients are not within short driving distance to a specialist, they now have the ability to receive the care they need). Teletherapy also saves time and money for clients because of reduced time and money spent on travel to a clinic as well as the ease of maintaining appointments with less need to reschedule or cancel last minute due to the demands of daily life.

IF I LIVE IN THE BOULDER, CO AREA, DO YOU OFFER ANY IN-PERSON SESSIONS?

For clients who live in the Boulder, CO area, we do offer in-person sessions. In order to ensure we do not have any disruption in care due to weather, COVID-related concerns, or other reasons, we will set up teletherapy sessions whenever necessary.
